Words of Wisdom

When you are happy within yourself, everything else just seems to work. Sitting here today and feeling as happy and as good about myself as I do, I know it has been worth every ounce of sweat excreted, every tear drop dropped and every single one of the 46 kilograms of weight that I have shed in the past 23 months.

Your Journey

I changed my lifestyle in the following ways:

  • Food
  • Exercise
  • Behaviour
  • Supportive environment

Here's what I did:

On the evening of July 24th I returned home from work after my first WW meeting and removed the temptations from my cupboards and fridges. These were now empty.I ate cheeseburgers atleast 5x a week prior to this meeting;I havent had one since. Exercise? This was nonexistant. I lived 600m from my workplace and didnt hesitate to get a taxi if i was running late. I now religiously exercise daily, walk 3.5km to work, go to mutiple gym classes each week and have a personal trainer.

Weight loss isn't just about me, it also impacted the people around me.

My fiance joined me in ditching the junkfood.I couldn't have done it without his support. He never exercised prior to me starting WW and now joins me regularly. He has lost 38kg & will also never go back.I inspired my younger sister to change her eating habits and she has lost 35kg.A client whom i persuaded to join WW in August last year has lost 30kg.She has become a very close friend of mine and refers to me as her inspiration. Seeing others change their lifestyle aids my motivation to continue.

Your Achievements

Motivation kept me going!

I set myself achieveable goals. 5kg stepping stones didn't seem unattainable compared to an ultimate weight loss goal of 45+ kg. The satisfaction of feeling and looking great and seeing the weight fall off was rewarding enough to want to continue. Receiving numerous compliments encouraged me to strive to obtain my goal and keep grasp of my new lifestyle

There are things I can do now that I could never do before

I can run! My exercise when I started this journey was a 4km walk. I struggled to run the length between two powerpoles and only did this once during my walk.. I can now comfortably run 8km!I'm not afraid to scrutinise the ingredients of food on a menu when dining out, and asking for things to be taken out or added.I can now walk into any shop and know that I can choose what I actually like rather than just trying to find something that fits.I can look at my reflection in the mirror with a smile

Losing weight is not always a serious business

35kg into my journey, I was taking my girls from work to the hair expo in Sydney. The last time I had been on a plane was when I went to Auckland (the same weekend I got engaged) and the arm rest couldn't even go down because my bottom was in the way as it hung out into the isle. I was astounded when I could fit in the seat with room on either side of me. I didn't have to ask for an extension and, laughing hysterically, proudly showed the girls and my husband to be all the leftover belt i now had
