Words of Wisdom

Honesty. I used to trick myself into believing that my eating habits weren't that bad & that I was too busy and tired to exercise. When I started Weight Watchers I decided to be completely honest with myself. I tracked everything that went into my mouth; even on the days when my tracking went over on to a second page. I was 100% honest. I didn't cheat. This allowed me to see my weaknesses and make better choices, while still enjoying my food. I slowly introduced exercise & now I actually love it

Your Journey

I changed my lifestyle in the following ways:

  • Food
  • Exercise
  • Behaviour
  • Supportive environment

Here's what I did:

I have become savvier with the foods I choose to eat. I ensure that I'm fully satisfied without being guilt ridden. I never deprive myself, I just eat smarter. I've also come to understand the importance of exercise & it has enriched my life. I never understood how woman who had lost weight would harp on about how they now love to exercise. But now I know why; because the benefits are endless. I also surround myself with supportive people and ensure that I pick up tips & tricks where ever I can

Weight loss isn't just about me, it also impacted the people around me.

My weight loss has had a big impact on those around me. My fiancé has now joined Weight Watchers Online and Mum is attending meetings. My best friend has just had baby #2 & is heading to Weight Watchers to shed her baby weight. At work, a number of women joined Weight Watchers & one of them has lost 15kg just in time for her wedding! My students can't believe my transformation & I have taught them, by example, how determination & hard work can allow you to reach your goals, especially my Yr 12s

Your Achievements

Motivation kept me going!

I stayed motivated knowing that each and every Tuesday I would have to step on those dreaded scales at my Weight Watchers meeting. I would think about this when out at a restaurant & I was tossing up between the fish or a parma. I also tracked online, which made my weight loss journey so much easier; it wasn't tedious. I also educated myself as much as possible. I got a Weight Watchers magazine subscription and learnt all I could. I picked up tips & tricks & created my own to keep it interesting

There are things I can do now that I could never do before

I now fit into a size 8! Previously I was a size 18. It feels great to go shopping & have so much choice! My relationships have improved. I feel more confident and comfortable in my own skin. My fiancé and I cook together and we go walking, which gives us more time together. I can also prioritise my life far better. I know that enjoying myself & keeping myself healthy is number one; skipping out on exercise is not an option. I feel more confident at work & late last year I got a big promotion

Losing weight is not always a serious business

During my weight loss, I think I’d lost about 25kg by this stage, I went to have lunch with my mum. She is a receptionist & when I entered her work she was busy with a client. I waited for her to finish & she looked up from her desk and said, "Hi, can I help you?" I looked at her surprised for quite some time and finally I had to say, "Mum, it's me!" She almost fell off her chair and yelled that she had no idea it was me & she didn't recognise me. It really revealed just how much I'd changed
