Words of Wisdom

I can not loose weight and ultimately change my life on my own! I need the support and understanding of those around me. The advice, motivation and support of other members and my Weight Watchers Leader is second to none and I know I would find it hard to maintain without them. I have been at goal weight for about 7 months now and I still try to never miss a meeting! It is what keeps me on track and motivated.

Your Journey

I changed my lifestyle in the following ways:

  • Exercise
  • Behaviour

Here's what I did:

I use to eat without thinking and without any consideration, I now make conscious decisions about everything I eat, I still eat all the things I use to love just not every day and in giant helpings! I no longer say I can't exercise because I have no one to watch my kids; I get active with my children, and feel like a better mum because of it! Going to the park and running around for an hour, or giving the kids piggy back rides around the house. The pedometer is now my friend.

Weight loss isn't just about me, it also impacted the people around me.

Committing to a healthy lifestyle has forced my husband to eat healthier and in turn lose weight. My children no longer snack on rubbish as these things are simply no longer in our house! I feel great knowing as a family we live a better life. "She's the best chubby-buddy to have, when I am struggling, I can call her and ask how she get's through it, and if she can do it with two children under 3, then I can make time for myself, and my family and do it too!" (Fellow Chubby Buddy, Antonia)

Your Achievements

Motivation kept me going!

I did it one week at a time, doing this I knew I only had to stay motivated for 7 days. If it got to mid week and I felt myself having a moment of weakness I was able to tell myself it is only 3 more days, till I go to my meeting and get the motivation and pick me up I need to stay on track for another 7 days. By doing this I was able to reach my goal with only ever gaining weight once! A quote from my leader, which I ask myself all the time, "Will that taste as good as being thin will feel?"

There are things I can do now that I could never do before

As cliché as it sounds it is the truth, I can now look at myself in the mirror and not only say but believe that I like what I see, I'm not perfect but I am happy with who I am and I like the person looking back at me in the mirror. I can go out with confidence and not be afraid to stand out in a crowd. I can happily have my photo taken, I am looking forward to filling the family photo albums with photo's of me with my children and husband instead of always being behind the camera.

Losing weight is not always a serious business

I go to a night meeting so my husband can watch the kids and I have a night off, however he often works away meaning I had to bring the kids with me. I got them bathed and into their pj's before we left, and bypassed McDonalds on the way to get them dinner. For those who attend night meetings you might be all to aware of the don't eat after lunch until after weigh in ritual. 20+ starving woman and I walk in with the aroma of deep fried food to a weight watchers meeting.. opps... sorry ladies!
