Words of Wisdom

Respect your body - it's the only one you're ever going to have! I have learnt that losing weight isn't about vanity, it's about having a longer, healthier life. Make exercise a part of your life - I used to think I needed to exercise in order to lose weight - now I know I JUST NEED TO EXERCISE...

Your Journey

I changed my lifestyle in the following ways:

  • Food
  • Exercise
  • Behaviour
  • Supportive environment

Here's what I did:

I planned my meals in advance each week, eating lots of healthy & filling foods. I weighed & measured everything to ensure correct portion size. I never deprived myself of anything, if I wanted it, I had it & I tracked it. I exercised regularly. I ran, walked & did ZUMBA. I did as much 'incidental' exercise as I could. I asked for help when I needed it. I had a positive attitude about EVERYTHING. I set myself goals regularly & I surrounded myself with only loving & supportive people.

Weight loss isn't just about me, it also impacted the people around me.

My husband says 'happy wife, happy life'. We have a happy life now! We are an active, healthy family that eats together & plays together. We are healthy role models for our children, we are teaching them good health habits for life. I have motivated friends to assess their own health. My dear friend Mary said 'You are a credit to yourself and a great ambassador for Weight Watchers and good health'. The beautiful Rene' said "...happy to share the motivation around , you've given me plenty lovely'

Your Achievements

Motivation kept me going!

My Weight Watchers meeting motivated my every week. The support of my Leader & the other members was just what I needed when my motivation was waning. Meetings are my 'ME' time - the inspiration I get & the information that is shared is invaluable. I set exercise & weight loss goals along the way. I always had a pair of jeans in a size too small & tried them on regularly. It was THE best motivation each & every time they finally fit - then it was off to the shops to buy the next size down...

There are things I can do now that I could never do before

I can run! I did my first 5k Fun Run in July last year - it was such an amazing feeling to finish, such a HUGE sense of achievement. Later this year I will take on my first 10k run in the Bridge to Brisbane. After losing most of my weight I had the confidence to do my Zumba Instructor Training & I have plans to become a Weight Watchers Leader later this year. It's very exciting - I now have 2 new career paths that mean I can continue to motivate & inspire others to have a healthy, active life.

Losing weight is not always a serious business

I was getting out of the shower one morning & my 4 year old daughter, Mia, said '"Your bottom's getting smaller Mumma" - I had to laugh! In fact, everything got smaller & I'm still laughing...
